The best answer to the question: What form has capitalism taken hold in modern China? Would be: Many state-owned industries are now privately owned.

    Explanation:

After the Chinese Communist Revolution, also known as the Cultural Revolution of 1911, which was led by Communist leader Mao Zedong, all the means of production in China fell under the government's control and power. And ever since then, that has been the ruling principle in China. And not just the means of production, but all companies, regardless of where they came from, if they entered Chinese territory, they were taken away from their owners and made part of the state. However, with the passage of time, and especially after the turn of the twenty first century, China's radical stance on government-owned and controlled means of production, and companies, has changed a bit, so that now, a more moderate form of Communism, leaning more towards Capitalism, has settled. As such, one of the most outstanding characteristics of this newly moderate communist/capitalist Chinese society and government is that a lot of the industries that were once exclusively managed by the state, have been entrusted to private control, even if the Chinese government still keeps tabs on these companies.
