How did Congress organize the sale of the western lands?

    Well they passed several acts that gave large amounts of lands in the West for really cheap prices. The Homestead Acts were an example of this. The Indian Removal Act of 1830 also got rid of Native Americans who were living on western lands. This led to more lands being able to be sold to people looking to settle in the west. Lastly, as Congress tried to assimilate Native Americans into American culture, the gave them lands as part of the deal. Some of these Native Americans sold these lands to people that were looking for lands for cheap prices.
