There are many differences between Confucianism and Taoism. Although they share their place of origin, which is China, Confucianism is based on 5 key relationships, that is to say, according to Confucianism, it is important to set good examples, while Taoism establishes the importance of leading a harmonic life. Moreover, Confucianism spreads the idea that people must be respectful to those who are considered superior, while Taoism believes that humans can have a harmonic life if they are able to connect with Tao. Furthermore, while the founder of Confucianism is Confucius (Kong Qiu), the founder of Taoism is Lao Tzu. However, one of the most important differences between the two traditions is that followers of Confucianism believe in a God, while followers of Taoism do not believe in a personal God: they believe in Tao, which makes reference to "a path".
