The Huns originated in Central Asia and Eastern Europe. They were first reported as living east of the Volga River. Their more famous military technique was mounted archery, which gave impulse to their expansion, a factor that might had contributed to the "Great Migration", known as the "Barbarian Invasions" to Mediterranean countries, thus contributing to the collapse of the Western Roman Empire.
