It allowed the Japanese empire to expand into the smaller islands, they were lacking in material and had a weak natural resource therefore they needed to conquest into the asian coutnries. Usa was a huge threat due to how close it was and it high power. European countries were busy and therefore only USA could stop Japan from attacking. Due to Japan being far away the only thing which could reach them is Navy boats and Planes. Preventing the Pacific Fleet from interfering with Japanese conquest of the Dutch East Indies and Malaya and to enable Japan to conquer Southeast Asia without interference. They took the lives of more than 2,500 Americans and destroyed 18 ships and about 300 airplanes. Caused high cost and economy struggle to repair. Japan managed to seize islands and colonies but later lost it. Practically useless attack not gonna lie.
