Unlike the southern states, which had to produce with reduced labor since most of the men were at war, industrial production in the northern states had enough people for the industry to continue functioning and sending subsidies to the army. That's because, being a worker was much better than being a soldier, the salary was better and security was greater for that reason, many Americans preferred to continue working instead of going to war, meanwhile, the army of the union is, marjoritely, formed by foreigners, natives and even ex-slaves, or slaves who fled the south. As a result, the supply of weapons, ammunition, boots and clothing for soldiers was not weakened.

The northern states also had many rivers and fertile lands, which allowed efficient agricultural production to be established, as they could not rely on crops planted in the south. This allowed the north to establish grain production that would keep the population and soldiers fed, in the best possible way. In addition, being a farmer was better than being a soldier, which allowed the agricultural sector to have enough workers to produce crops.

The southern states even had resources for industrialization, but they did not have industries, which limited the access of the Confederate army to many resources needed to win the war. The northern states, on the other hand, were very industrialized and were able to produce weapons, ammunition, bandages, clothing and shoes very quickly with the use of machines, unlike the south, which had to do all these factors in a handmade way, slowly and often inefficient.
