The long term effect of the Battle of Britain was that the whole of Europe did not become controlled by Hitler or Stalin. Hitler has conquered most of continental Europe in a matter of weeks and had outmanoeuvred the combined British and French armies on France forcing the British to retreat in disarray without their heavy weapons.
