    Their differences: Safavids were Shia where as the Mughals were Sunni.

    The Mughals ruled over Hindu majority empire where as muslims were majority in Safavid empires.

    The Safavids were the enemies of both the Ottomans and the Mughals.

    One of the most significant differences between the Safavid and the Ottoman Empire in particular and the Mughal empire to a lesser extent was that the Safavids implemented meritocracy within its bureaucracy and military.

    The Mughal Empire ruled a mainly non-Muslim population while the Safavids empires ruled mainly Muslim.
