Prohibition of slavery in the southern states was the fear that proliferated during Lincoln's campaign for presidence. Since 1859, during his speeches, Lincoln strongly denounced slavery and started a rising political career based on that. Beeing elected, the whole nation wondered if Lincoln would accept secession of southern states against his one principles, and the response came in 1861 when Confederated South Carolina soldiers opened fire against Federal troops in Charleston and inmediatly, Lincoln requested for arms, soldiers and supplies to the remaining Union States.
