The Answer is Geronimo turned back and stayed in Mexico.

    Explanation:

Five months and 1,645 miles later, Geronimo was followed to his quarters in Mexico's Sonora Mountains. Fatigued, and unfortunately outnumbered, Geronimo abandoned in Sonora, Mexico. Several Apaches hesitantly allowed to reside on reservations. Crook operated Apaches against each other. He granted them grounds to become scouts for the U. S.
