    The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the General Assembly in 1948 in Paris, France. It consists of 30 articles that have been complemented by subsequent treaties, national constitutions and other laws. The document set out, for the first time, to list the fundamental rights of all people to be universally protected. It also sets a common standard of achievement for all people and all nations.
