    greater

    Explanation:

The United States were the country that had the largest costs of the World War II. It is leading the charts with having costs of 341 billion US dollars. That is 69 billion dollars more than the second placed Germany. The Soviet Union had 192 billion dollars of costs, Britain 120 billion dollars, and Italy 94 billion dollars. This makes the United States the biggest spender of the World War II, being far ahead the second placed Germany, and having spent incomparably more than any other major power of the European continent. While the United States spent the highest amount of finances in the war, that doesn't mean that they suffered badly because of it, as lot of their spending was also for support of other countries, thus they got their money back, most of which much more than what was loaned.

    * Note that the sums are in accordance to the value of the USD in 1945, as in modern terms it is much larger sums.
