Romans did not need to trade food as they were able to irrigate well in all parts of the empire due to the construction of the aqueducts.

    Explanation:

The roman region supported a huge population from all across the vast empire of Rome and thus needed a lot of resources just to survive in the region that did not produce as much crop to make them live their life well enough.

Thus the aqueducts were constructed which allowed for better irrigation and the Romans were able to plant as much food as they wanted.

This came with thee fact that they did not trade as much food anymore.
