What was the main reason for British exploration and colonization of North America?

    Around the time the British decided to colonize North America, the already had the largest empire in the world with roots in places like China and India in Asia, and various regions of the African continent. The abundance of natural resources available in this new land would supply them with more materials they could use for trade and expanding the British Empire even more.
