    The protections are : freedom of speech, freedom of unreasonable searches or seizures and right to a trial by jury.

    Freedom of speech is granted in the Amendment 1 of the U. S. Constitution, together with the freedom of religion and press. In the Michigan Constitution it is granted in Article 1 paragraph 5: freedom of speech and of press.

    Freedom of unreasonable searches or seizures: Amendment 4 of the Bill of Rights and Article 1 paragraph 11 of the Michigan Constitution.

    Trial by jury : Amendment 7 (Rights in Civil Cases) of the Bill of Rights and Article 1 paragraph 14 of the Michigan Constitution.

    The Michigan Constitution was ratified in 1963 and the bill of Rights in 1789.

    The rights of crime victims and prohibition on discrimination are stated in the Article I of the Michigan Constitution only.
