The correct answer is - single unified national identity.

The European Union has put a lot of effort into trying to destroy the nationalist parties in the country members, thus leaving the people with that ideology without representatives. Also, the EU has its own parliament that has a bigger authority than the governments of the countries and they are obliged to obey to the EU rules. With this moves, the EU has been trying to put aside the national identity of the people of the different countries aside, and force them to identify themselves as Europeans only, but it had little to no effect in practice.
