Could the problems of overcrowding be solved by privatized jails and prisons? In three or four sentences, state why a privatized prison system does or does not work and conclude with your reason for either a privatized prison system or a governmental one.

    In a moral or ethical sense, prisons in principle should not be private, since taking someone's liberty should not be profitable. The goal of any society should be to have as few people in prison as possible.

    For this reason, I disagree with the view that overcrowding can be solved by private prisons.

    In fact, there is overcrowding because there are too many people in prisons who do not deserve to be there: people who did not commit violent crimes, or only committed misdemeanors and were unjustly imprisoned. This people should be freed, at least conditionally, and that would solve the overcrowding problem.
