Following the United States, and most likely following the same reasons of heavy taxation burdens, social conflicts with the natives and the influence of European liberal philosophy, Latin America became independent from European powers. The First country was Haiti, which fought its independence war from 1791 to 1804 against France. In the followiing decades, Spanish colonies started their independence wars, particularly between 1810 to 1820, and during that 1820s decade, so did Brazil and Bolivia.
