The Great Depression led to the loss of jobs in many families. This led to short funds. And without money to purchase enough food, especially for large families, led to many becoming malnourished by skipping meals to preserve food, and suffering hunger. It also led to the inability to receive education as parents could not provide school supplies or suitable clothing.
