As a matter of fact, veterans of the Texas Revolution received land as payment for their military service. Originally, in order to attract volunteers, the United States government would grant land bounties in exchange for military service. However, additional land (about 1,280 acres of land) was given to those Texan veterans who served in the Texas Revolution for over three months.
