Was there a relationship between the ways in which the british and french monarchs approached the ideas of the enlightenment and the outbreak of revolution?

    Britain was more of a hub for enlightenment ideas, as there was, for the most part, freedom of speech and religion. France was still autocratic (absolute monarchy) and relied strictly on traditionalism and religious based thinking while trying to suppress any secular scholars.
