What was the main purpose of ratifying the bill of rights

The main purpose of the Bill of Rights is to protect civil rights and our autonomy. The antifederalists disliked the constitution because they believed it gave the government too much power; by creating the bill of rights the citizens were protected from a strong centralized government.
