Explain ONE process that led to the emergence of new states in the second half of the

twentieth century

Decolonization. This is a process that enabled certain countries to gain independence, or precisely to deliberate themselves from the hands of European colonial powers. This process was mostly connected to Africa and Asia.

Explanation:

After WW2 it became obvious that system of colonies is not acceptable anymore. African countries started asking for independence, and most of them gained it peacefully. Still, although they gained independence, they were economically depending of the countries that colonized them.
