The Majority of slaves went to Brazil. The Caribbean was second and North America 3rd. Brazil was one of the last countries to abolish slavery under pressure from the US and Europe in 1888. An estimated 4.9 million slaves were imported to Brazil between 1501-1866 about 40 per cent of all slaves imported during the Atlantic slave trade.
