How did Great Britain find a way to gain power in China and shift the balance of trade?

The United States, Great Britain and France were all part of the Big Four. They continued to trade amongst each other because they were on each other's sides. They were also plotting to make the Central Powers pay for their part in the war with land, goods, livestock and money. They wanted most to
