After World War II, Europe's map changed significantly. Numerous countries managed to gain their independence back, as they were occupied by Germany. Poland had the same territory, with the same shaped, slightly moved more toward the west. Yugoslavia was officially formed in the Balkans, with Bulgaria losing the territory that it had occupied. Albania came on the scene as a newly formed independent nation. Germany lost little pieces of its ethnic territory. Italy gained part of the territory of Slovenia. All in all, there was a big turmoil in Europe, with numerous borders being changed, established, or moved.
