Among the options given on the question the correct answer is option A.

He created a compromise to give equal status to Austria and Hungary.

Explanation: Emperor Franz Joseph was the emperor of the Austria and the king of Hungary and King of Bohemia and Monarch of many other states of the Austro-Hungarian empire. He was one of the longest reigning emperor of any kingdom in the Europe and longest of Austria.

However, during his time there was ups downs in the empire. During 1850s Austria had several failures in their external policy. They were defeated at the independence war of Italy and war with Prussia. They also lost alliance with Russia.

On the other hand there was unrest in the Hungary regarding nationalism issue. These factors led the Emperor Joseph to make Austro-Hungarian compromise of 1867. The Compromise partially re-established[16] the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Hungary, separate from, and no longer subject to the Austrian Empire.
