Was called into being by king Charles II.

The Dominion of New England brought the New England colonies and eventually some of the Middle colonies together under royal control. This decision was made to better monitor the economic system of New England. This act enforced the Navigation Acts and meant to shut down trade with the Dutch and French. This act brought the region under the jurisdiction of England and changed both the economic and social rules of the region. The Church of England was named the official church as well.
