Sometimes you act because of something that has happened; that is a reaction. Other times, you act because you have goals or objectives. For instance, Hernando de Soto's men stuffed his dead body into a hollow log because they were afraid vengeful Indians would mutilate it. La Salle, on the other hand, was exploring with a goal - to find the mouth of the Mississippi River. Using your textbook and online historical resources, find three examples of actions that occurred during this time in reaction to something else. Then find three examples of actions that occurred because someone had a specific objective or goal.
