    Explanation:

    The War of 1812 was fought between Britain and the United States from 1812 to 1815. The war resulted from the series of economic sanctions imposed on the United States from Britain and France as part of Napoleonic Wars. The British impressement policy enraged Americans especially after the Chessapeake incident in 1807. The US fought that war for protection of sea lanes. The treaty was signed on Dec 24, 1814 in the city of Ghent in United Netherlands. However the hostilities continued till 1815. And also because the US Congress ratified the treaty in Feb 1815. The major impact was that it settle boundary between Canda and the United States.
