Answer: Simply because they needed them as slaves to get it, load it, and supply them with food, shelter and everything else they had been getting when they conquered primitive peoples. The gold was accounted for by accountants and it went directly to Spain. This left the Conquistadors out so Pizarro and DeSoto as well as the other leaders of the Spanish expeditions were given slaves to carry their armor, care for their horses, gather food for them, and females to service them and their fantasies

Firstly, the first conquistadors were the ones in trouble with Spanish authorities ... They needed to get the gold as soon as possible ... They only had one way ticket. They did not have time for trade. Anyway their ships did not have space for trading goods ... Furthermore politically, gold was in control of Aztec and Inka rulers and they had monopoly over it. Therefore Spanish were forced to control political authority.
