What was the main motivation for the Muslims during crusades

    The main motivation of the Muslims during the Crusades was to protect Jerusalem as a holy place. In the Islamic world, there were three great centers that were considered holy: They were Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem. Overall, the Muslims were willing to fight for what they thought was an important place of worship, ie Jerusalem.
