This happened because a black woman called Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to stand up so a white man can sit down in a bus

The black women and girls were involved in thorough publicity to boycott the Montgomery bus. They were the backbone because their publicity attracted a lot of people and the boycott was then strictly followed and it garnered nationwide interest.

The contributor was Martin Luther King (Jr). He did a lot on his advocacy. The Supreme Court labeled the racist as not constitutionally acceptable and the boycott was then suspended.
