School districts in which states were among the first to integrate schools following the brown versus Board of Education decision decision

The states of Maryland and Delaware from the north were the first, with the state of Missouri from the south to desegregate schools. A couple districts in Arkansas eventually followed suit but the desegregation was mostly resisted in the south, especially in Virginia and Texas.
