    are very indigenous. They have a population which is concentrated in the southern state of Oaxaca and also have communities in which they exist in neighboring states.

    They were a sedentary culture living in villages and towns, in houses constructed with stone and mortar. They noted the principal events in their history by means of hieroglyphics.

    They built their temples high in the mountains so as to be closer to their gods.
