    Sports heroes became popular during the 1920s because it was a period of prosperity and social change in America. Many American were looking for leisure time and went to see sports in stadiums to observe players.

    The 1920s was a period of prosperity and a strong economy in the United States which led people to look for leisure time to spend with their friend and families. The period is also known as the golden age for American sports. Massive new stadiums and gymnasiums built. Baseball became the national pastime in America while other gain popularity were boxing, Horse racing, tennis, and golf. Football also came in to view in colleges among students. Babe Ruth, Satchel Paige, Jack Dempsey, along with other became stars of sports.

    Ruth was the perfect hero for the Roaring Twenties. The 1920s also was a decade when college football became more popular ... Heavyweight champion Jack Dempsey was almost as famous as Ruth. Horse racing, golf, and tennis all had their fans.
