Confucius was a Chinese teacher, politician and a very important philosopher who shaped the Chinese culture and human history as a whole. According to him, family was the basis for a good and ideal government. He did NOT believe in democracy; he thought that masses didn't have the intellect to choose their own leader to make good decisions for themselves. Although he supported monarchy, he also supported that the power of the leaders should be limited and those who led should do so correctly by example (neither force nor punishment would be needed). Since he made too many enemies within the state, he left the State of Lu without resigning and not being able to return as long as Viscount Di Huan lived.
