Women's right to vote was formally proposed for the first time in the United States on 1848, in the Convention for the Rights of Women in Seneca Falls; an event organized by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott.

After this, a continous and arduous fight in favor of the right to the feminine vote began, obtaining small victories in some places, as it is the case of Oklahoma. Since on November 5th 1918, an amendment of the universal suffrage of women to the Constitution of Oklahoma was ratified, becoming the twenty-first state to grant women the right to vote.

Finally in August 1920, the Amendment 19 to the United States Constitution was ratified and all American women were granted the right to vote.
