Wage reduction and the replacement of workers were the two main reasons that led to the strike of the workers of Andrew Carnegie.

The Homestead strike began at the steel plant in the Homestead. This strike took place because the management under the leadership of Henry Frick (manager of Andrew Carnegie) wanted to demolish the union at the plant in order to reduce the wages.
