If Massachussets Bay Colony has a mother country, it would be England. Their first colony arrived from England and Barbados from 1630 to 1640. They were mostly Puritans so, the grew in large families and needed a lot of farm land. Before that, most of them were settlers of Cape Ann, a place northern Salem, for a time but when that investment broke, they organized their new settlements around Salem and Boston.
