In 1845, the democratic party supported Limited government, state sovereignty, and slavery.

They believe that government influence in the economy should be limited and they should let the states have the full sovereignty in regulating their own economy.

On top of that, they believe that slavery should exist since it allow the plantations to produce large amount of product with very little labor cost.
