Answer: A. Osama bin Laden was hiding in the rugged, high mountains in Pakistan.

    B. The process of establishing a new democratic government took longer than expected.

    Explanation:

    a) While the US were fighting to capture Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan which is where they thought he was, he was living in relative luxury in the mountainous regions of Pakistan. The US wasted millions trying to find him in Afghanistan and spent years doing so until they got him In Pakistan.

    b) Even though Afghanistan was liberated in 2001 by the Coalition forces, the first elections only took place in 2004 and were marred by allegations of election fraud. This was another challenge to the United States as a stable government would have reacted faster to the insurgency that was now in full force from the Taliban.
