    Probably in the 1840's because this was during the time that a huge number of immigrants were brought into the Americas due to the Irish potato famine, since they didn't have any money they were way outnumbering the number of natural workers because they were cheaper. Germans also immigrated during this time but, being a bit wealthier, were able to farm out more westward
