How did most of the British soldiers feel about being in America

    Around 10% British soldiers deserted for fear of harsh treatment or misconduct by their peers. These soldiers settled in American colonies. Most of these 10% soldiers married American women and did not want to leave their new family behind in USA. There was harsh conditions during war and skirmishes and it meant discipline was severe too. Crimes such as theft or desertion could result in hanging or punishment of lashings in public.
