Although Churchill did not coin the term "Iron Curtain" it was the language that popularised it-a lot then that to the time this speech is commonly related to as the "Iron Curtain speech. "It appears that term been first used by German Propaganda Minister Josef Goebbels in the last weeks of world war 2. At "Das Jahr 2000," Das Reich, 25 Feb 1945, pp. 1-2, Nazi wrote that "If these Germanic people put down their weapons, the Soviets, agreeing to this accord between FDR, Churchill and communist, could invade all of East and Southeast Europe along with the greater part of the Reich. The iron curtain would come at the large area operated by Russia, behind which countries could be slaughtered. The Jewish press at London and New York could likely even be applauding."
