Participatory democracy has a great importance and it has a great effect on the growth and development of the country. From 1816 to 1848, expansion of participatory democracy decreases by the intervention of powerful people for their own interest.

    Explanation:

Participatory democracy is a type of democracy where people of the country allow to participate in different aspects which has a direct affect on their life. From 1816 to 1848, democracy in America had changed. The president should not be elected by the people of the country but by some powerful people of the country for their own interest which is totally against the law and constitution. For this reason, John C. Calhoun who was the Vice President of the United States, wrote a confidential letter to J. G. Swift, in 1825 for telling about the importance of new election.
