The Tripartite Pact, also known as the Pact of the Axis, was a pact signed in Berlin the 27 of September of 1940 by Saburō Kurusu, Adolf Hitler and Galeazzo Ciano, representing the Empire of Japan, the Nazi Germany and the Kingdom of Italy respectively. This pact constituted a military alliance between these nations, and the Axis Forces were officially formed, opposed to the Allied Forces in World War II.

In the following months, the kingdoms of Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Yugoslavia adhered to the pact - the first three to receive territory in the Balkans, and the last to avoid being invaded. The Slovak Republic also acceded to the Covenant after the dismemberment of Czechoslovakia.
