The growth of the Turkic tribes and Turkic languages into Central Asia, also known as the Turkic Migration also reached the far east north of the Great Wall of China (which was constructed approximately between the Han dynasty and the Xiongnu).

Ever since, the Xinjiang Chinese region has a discord between the authorities and the ethnic Uighur population (The Turks).

As a long term impact, ethnic tensions, and religious frictions have prevailed; and most recently, as an example of it, the Han Chinese descendants are said to be given the best jobs and the majority do well economically, something that has fueled resentment among the Uighurs.
