    Art in medieval African culture was a mix of African ideas with those of Roman, Indian and Islamic art due because the heavy trading in the region, they also remain traditional and carved stone in an African style and more down south, Africans were painting rock art like thousands of years before with hunting scenes and religious ceremonies developing their own artistic styles. Drums were also a form of music and communication among Africans and an important part of their life as well as dancing and singing.

    The relevance of art in medieval Africa was the cultural legacy where traditions became important like the family and religion and the oral tradition used by Africans telling the history stories for new generations.
