Jefferson was an avid supporter of states rights

    Explanation:

He was an avid supporter of confederations and if he would have been alive then things would have changed. So, it can be perceived that he would have definitely supported the confederacy. States ' rights was the original cause but civil war had begun for the cause of morals and equality.

Jefferson was a person who insisted time and again on equality of men and this was included in the declaration of independence also and yet he was also owner of slaves which also was controversial. He believed to be a person who supported republican views and also favored limited interference of the central government.
